Rained Out Again:
The
Cubs and Mets were rained out on Wednesday night. The Cubs have now
been rained out 6 times. They also had their Memorial Weekend
doubleheader canceled so in all the Cubs have had 8 games postponed.
They have made up two so the team still has 6 games to make up.
Cubs Back on
Track:
The
Cubs got back on the winning side of things Sunday finally beating the
Orioles, 4-2. It looked like the Cubs would score a lot of runs in
this one as they got 4 runs in the first but that would be all they could
score and thanks to the Cubs pitching that would be all they would need. Box Score and

Tigers Stun Cubs:
The
Tigers keep the Cubs rough streak going as they beat the Cubs 5-4. The
Cubs are now 1-4-1 in their last six games and now do not play until Sunday
against the Orioles. The Cubs had a 2-0 lead until the Tigers doubled
them up with 4 runs in the fourth. The Cubs though tied it in the
sixth but then with 3 consecutive singles in the bottom of the seventh the

Cubs and Orioles
Settle for Tie:
In
the third meeting of the year the Cubs and Orioles played yet another close
fought game. This time though there was no winner as the teams had to
settle for a 4-4 tie after 8-innings. The Orioles started things off
in the first with two runs but the Cubs quickly took the lead in the bottom
of the inning 3-2. The Orioles then scored two more in the second and

Orioles Top Cubs
Again:
In
the second meeting of the top two teams in the league the Orioles edged out
the Cubs again, 2-1. The Cubs scored first in the first inning but
couldn't manage any more runs despite a threat in the bottom of the seventh.

Roehm Out for
Season:
Cubs
outfielder Jimmy Roehm is out for the season as he was diagnosed with a
torn labrum
this past week. Roehm hurt his shoulder in the game on Sunday, June 8
against the Angels diving back to second. Roehm was hitting .348 in 9
games for the Cubs. The team hopes he will be able to come back next
season.
Cubs Rained Out
Again:
The
Cubs were rained out for the fifth time this season (not including the 2
games postponed Memorial Weekend) as their game against the Mets on Friday
was canceled. No make up date is scheduled. The Cubs now have 3
of 4 games against the second place Orioles.
Cubs Top Yankees
in Makeup Game:
The
Cubs topped the Yankees 8-3 in the makeup game from Monday night.
Amidst a swarm of Fish Flies the Cubs were finally able to get a full

The
Cubs and Yankees will make up their game from Monday night this Thursday,

Rain, Rain Go
Away:
The
Cubs were rained out again on Monday night. This is the third rainout
in 4 games for the Cubs. The Tigers-Cubs game from last week Tuesday
may be made up on Thursday. Confirmation is expected to come later in
the day on Tuesday.
Storm Washes
Away Cubs Romp:
The
Cubs and Angels made it to the fifth inning when the storm hit on Sunday.
Unfortunately for the Cubs they did not get through the fifth inning.
The Cubs lead 12-1 but because the teams didn't finish the fifth the rules
state the game is to be replayed from the beginning! The Cubs are not
happy about this rule and will look to have it changed next year. The
Cubs also had bad news earlier in the game as Jimmy Roehm went down with a
dislocated left shoulder. The Cubs placed Roehm on the 15-day DL.
He will be examined later this week to determine the severity of the injury.
Braves Top Cubs
Again:
In
their third meeting of the year the Braves took a 2 games to 1 lead in their
season series as they beat the Cubs 8-5 Thursday night. The Cubs have
now lost two in a row for the first time this year. The two teams will
now not play again until the end of July.
Cubs-Tigers Game
Rained Out:
The
Cubs and Tigers game for Tuesday, June 3rd was rained out. No make-up
date has been announced.
Orioles Stop
Cubs Streak:
The
Orioles ended the Cubs 9 game winning streak by beating them 2-0. The
Cubs got another solid starting performance but their bats couldn't get

Ninth in a Row:
The
Cubs dominated again on the mound. Steve Gordon threw a 3-hit 6-inning
shutout for his third win of the year. The Cubs also took charge with
their bats as they scored two in the second and then 5 in the third and then

Cubs Mercy Mets
Again:
The
Cubs again mercied the Mets, 12-2, bring their record to 8-1-1 and their
winning streak to 8 games in a row. The Mets scored first but the Cubs
took the lead in the bottom of the first and then broke it open in the third
with 7 runs. The Cubs now have two tough games against the Red Sox on
Friday and the Orioles on Sunday. Box Score and

Cubs Avenge Loss:
Friday night the Cubs avenged their only loss of the season by beating the
Braves 6-0. Eric Vandereyk stepped in a threw a great game for the
Cubs. Eric went 5-innings for the win and Jon Van Son closed the game
out for the team's seventh win.
Cubs Win Wet One:
The
Cubs and Reds played in the rain for most of the night Wednesday but that
didn't stop the Cubs from winning their sixth in a row. Behind another
solid pitching performance, timely hitting and some wildness from the Reds
pitchers the Cubs beat the Reds 11-3. Box Score and

May 25 Postponed:
The
Cubs doubleheader scheduled for Sunday May 25 has been postponed due to
teams having a hard time getting a team because of the Memorial Day Weekend.
Makeup dates have not been set yet.
Streak Hits Five
with Win over Sox:
The
Cubs extended their winning streak to five games with a 4-1 win over the Red
Sox with some great pitching and some timely two out hitting. It was a
close game throughout but the Cubs got on the board with two in the third
and then single runs in the sixth and seventh. The Tigers scored their
run in the seventh but couldn't put any more on the board. Box Score and

in a Row:
The
Cubs met the Tigers on Sunday and won their fourth game in a row. The
Cubs took a 2-0 early lead in the first and the Tigers got on the board in
the second but after that it was all Cubs with one each in the third and
fourth and then five in the sixth. The Tigers added one in their half

for the Cubs:
For
the second straight game the Cubs shutout and mercied their opponent.
This time it was the Yankees that felt the beating from the Cubs. The
Cubs have now won 3 in a row and face the Tigers on Sunday.
Cubs Trounce
Mets:
After getting rained out on Wednesday the Cubs came in Thursday ready and
they ended up mercying the Mets 12-0. Behind solid pitching from Steve
Gordon and a lot of offense the Cubs have their first winning streak of the
year. The Cubs now play Friday to make up the rainout on Wednesday.
Cubs Get First
Win with Comeback:
Behind great pitching by both teams the Cubs and Angels went another 7
innings tied. This time though the Cubs won in the 8th. Chris
Baroli went 5 innings striking out 8 and Steve Gordon went three. The
Cubs came back from a 3-0 in the seventh with a two-out bases loaded double
by Mike Dawson and won in the eighth with a run scoring single from Steve

Cubs Still
Looking for First Win:
The
Cubs opened the 2008 season with a heartbreaker Monday night. After
falling behind 1-0 and then 2-1 the Cubs took a 4-2 lead into the bottom of
the seventh. However, they were unable to hold on and the Braves won
it in the 8th. On Tuesday the Cubs were down 7-3 and came back to tie
it at 7-7, which is where it ended. The Cubs look to come back Friday
against the same Angels and try for their first win of the season.
